Hello /ck/. First time on this board.

I'm a computer engineering student taking on average 20 units per semester. Its not to bad, but I'm really interested in the science of cooking and would like to take classes on such (we have a culinary science program). Would it be worth it to take the first 3 classes in culinary science, perhaps even getting a minor in it? Or can I learn everything on my own via the internet / trial and error?

It would be purely out of interest, I have no desire to use it occupationally
