OP, I just want you to know they aren't going to be that good. I don't think they will satisfy the toasty desire burning inside.

Honestly, the first one I made a few months back was the best. I used more butter than was probably necessary, lots of good cheddar and a second cheese I don't even remember (maybe monterrey jack?), and a dash of ground black pepper. I also fried it in a bit of oil, per advice from here.

Decent bread, buttered liberally, bit of oil in the pan, at least two cheeses, some black pepper

I hate everything about this

At least two kinds of cheese. Nice bread that you'd actually want to eat. Butter. Pan nice and hot.
Grind a little pepper inside the sandwich too.

I made my first grilled cheese ever earlier this week. Used colby jack and extra sharp cheddar. Came out bretty gud. I think I used too much butter though.
