Shut up idiot. America only gets mass produced chili/tamarind candies and the occasional dry chalk copy of OG Mexican confectionery, which you can properly find in downtown and old town shops in places like Puebla and Mexico City.
These tend to be made of ingredients like almonds, condensed milk, sesame, tons of fruits, coconut, gelatin, cinnamon, panela sugar, cajeta, peanut, etc. Gringos have never actually tried these, and they’re centuries old in origin.

Well these aren’t ancient, just traditional from Puebla in central Mexico. Base ingredients tend to be flour, sugar, peanut, walnut, fruits, Mexican fruit not well known in the states such as mamey, chocolate, alcohol, raisins, cajeta, etc.

modern candy is, the equivalents of american sour and gummy shit.
traditional candy is stuff made with plant roots, condensed milk, sugar, and different kind of fruit flavors, in weird little shapes sold in traditional candy stores.
