How do you like your rice and beans?

All variations welcome.
I like lima beans with tomato puree and cayenne.

I want to learn to cook with rice and (dry) beans, because of budget and health issues. The problem is that I'm terrible with them, compared to other things. I've never made a dish using either that turned out well.

What tips do you have for cooking with rice and beans?

I want to make red beans and rice but I am not sure what I should put in it. I have eaten it but never actually made it before.

I have been reading a lot of recipes, some say pickled pork, some say andouille, some say smoked ham hocks.
I want something rick, porky, and smoky.

Make a big pot of red beans, OP. Lots of fiber and protein. Nuke and serve over rice, stays good all week

I made red beans & rice for my roommate and me. Mine looked even sketchier than this pic, but it was awesome. It's easier to make than I thought it was, too.
