Am I the only one that dislikes being waited on by males?

Its just awkward.

As bartenders they are great but I must admit I tip men far less than women.

Question for anyone who currently or ever worked in a restaurant.

I just got a job at one as a waiter but I have a culinary arts degree so i'd MUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH rather be in the kitchen. Is a waiter a good place to start off in a restaurant so I can hopefully work my way up towards being in the kitchen? Or is it highly unlikely i'd go from waiter to kitchen any time soon? I can take this job or leave it if there's no chance of getting in the kitchen.
