40-60k years is a long time to create cognitive abilities that are focused based on environment. "My people" had to contend with external forces that were out of their control...like seasons. The smart ones planned months and years ahead, and the dumb ones were culled by harsh winters. Meanwhile in Africa, they were surrounded by food and the occasional large animal attack. The "warrior gene" is something that is only now being studied, and this could be attributed to the dumb being culled by lack of proper flight or fight response.
