I wouldn't say my parents were top notch cooks but my mum was pretty good. She helped teach me a lot of making dishes when I became more independent. Plus she makes god-tier pasta dishes which has helped me eat cheap in university.

My dad on the other hand is quite the opposite. He has taught me a few small things that work well together but ever since his health scare he is very stubborn with food. Anything that is different from his usual menu or not pure carbs he will usually not eat. The countless times I've made dishes for him to help out he's thrown away because he rather eat cornflakes is crazy.

He's a massive hypocrite in the kitchen.
>Won't eat cheap processed meat for sandwiches
>Loves basic value processed frozen chicken and fish fillets
>States he's a good at making soups
>Refuses to use a hand blender or use any ingredients other than spinach, potato and salt
>Claims to only eat healthy food
>Lives on poor value cheese and raisins.

Hell even today he refused to buy my Granddad, who's very ill, unable to cook for himself and losing weight, white bread. He thought it would be too unhealthy for him despite him hating wholemeal. He had already lost a shit ton of weight and on caffeine pills, why would reducing sugar intake be helpful?

The worst thing is he refuses people cooking for themselves so when I'm home I'm stuck with pretty bad meals. My dad is the adult version of a picky child and a snobby health concious hipster. Pic related, it's similar to his "soup"
