I don't think I can lose 50lbs in a month at this point doc. Is 4-5 okay?

>Fraser-Moodie et al89 showed a significant correlation between weight loss and esophageal pH (OR, 0.55; P<.001) in an uncontrolled study of 34 obese patients with GERD.
Further studies are needed, however

50lbs overall? yes (most of it will be water weight)
50lbs of fat? highly unlikely. you would have to eat at a 5800kcal deficit, which is the daily energy usage of a 6'2" 850lb man. so that man would have to eat nothing for the entire month

It's an interesting thought. At what point does starving yourself to lose x number of points become more/less healthy than being at the initial weight to begin with?

I would think obesity is more chronic issues (CVD, etc) and fasting/starving is more acute...so I think you're right, but it's still an interesting thought.

Isn't it more likely that it's simpler than that? More cells = more chances for one to become cancerous. Plus the obese are generally less intelligent and poor, so they will likely have other risk factors as well (drug use, alcohol, smoking, pollution, etc)

Are those results controlled for actual calorie intake? It seems more that low carb has a higher adherence rate compared to low fat and that throws off some of the results (like Foster GD). Protein is directly linked to satiety, so it makes sense that someone eating more fat (ie meats/fish) would eat more protein and be more satiated.

I told my doc my plan was to get to 165 (middle of healthy bmi) and then slowly build up muscle mass while eating at a slight calorie surplus. She looked at me like I was a maniac.
