Hey /ck/. I was wondering if maybe you could help me out. I don't have much food until I get my paycheck and can go shopping. I have a shitload of pasta though, and wanted to make some alfredo sauce. I found this recipe, but I don't have any parmesan cheese. I do have a bit of cheddar, a whole package of american, and some provolone and monterrey jack. Would any of those be good substitutes? Alternatively, does anyone have some decent alfredo recipes that don't need lots of ingredients? I do have some cream cheese, milk, and a bunch of spices.

Pic somewhat related. It's a terrific spaghetti carbonara recipe I found somewhere on 4chan.

Made this the other night, it was damn good. It would go well with the bread in OP's pic.

Hi /ck/. First time on the board, looking for some halp. My moms coming over after three months of working outside the country and I want to surprise her with a some cool shit. I never cooked anything other than basic stuff (pasta, meatballs. sauces were bought). Could anyone help me out with recipes for fairly simple dishes? No lobsters neither, I'm not too wealthy. Something simple but good. Bonus points for images with clear presentation.

tia

Hi /ck/, first time here. I've come for your advice. I'm making dinner for my parents, two of their friends and myself tomorrow. I have a recipe for spaghetti cabonara (pic related), but as my mum doesn't eat wheat i'm going to just make the sauce and add it to a pre-bought seafood marinara. Firstly, is this a good idea? Does seafood cabonara taste good? I've used this kind of marinara before and added heaps of stuff to it like curry, tandori paste, etc. It's good stuff. Secondly, when I've made that sauce in the past I've noticed that when it's heated it just solidifies, so I'm worried that once I add the sauce to the seafood (normally I'll cook the seafood in a wok then add whatever and cook it a bit more) it'll just solidify and turn into an omlette. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? If i just stir it like crazy will it be fine? Or does anyone have a good cabonara recipe that won't instantly solidify as soon as it's heated?

Thanks.
