I'm a kidney bean kinda man myself. But if you really wanna get down to beansness, get a bag of dry pinto beans and pre soak them, and some smoked turkey necks or wings and add them plus the beans to a crock pot with about 4 cups of water. Add some salt, pepper, and any other seasoning you like (I enjoy cajun style seasonings) and put that bad biy on high and let is bubble away for 3 hours. Once it cools throw it over some white rice and enjoy

Smoked turkey neck and pinto beans is a favorite of mine, smoked turkey wing also works. Served over white rice is best. I also like to make bbq pulled chicken in it

That looks like a nice meal op. For me? It's stewed turkey neck and pinto beans, learned it from my gma and my dad admits I've surpassed her skill for a dish she's made most of her life. You buy smoked turkey necks or wings and some pre soaked dry beans and about 4 cups of water and seasoning of your choice. I like coarse salt, pepper, rubbed sage, premixed garlic seasoning blend and generous cayenne. Cook for 4-5 hours on low in a crock pot and serve with white rice. Watch out for the small neck vertabrae bones whole you eat

I haven't used my crockpot in awhile honestly, and I'm a firm year round soup/stew enjoyer. Last thing I did was some turkey neck and pinto beans on Christmas

Oxtail tastes better but turkey neck is a close second in flavor and much much cheaper

>soaking in a baking soda solution.
Never heard of this, what's the advantage of it? I just use water.
>should I try browning it and getting a little fond on the pot before adding the onions this time?
That sounds comfy, do it up. Have you ever tried making turkey neck and pinto beans?
