Breakfast used to be one of the last areas of the food industry where you could eat well for relatively cheap but that's been fucked. I remember this place near me that I'd go to all the time, I could get 3 eggs, grits, toast, bacon (and we're talking good thick bacon that was deep fried) and a drink/coffee for $3. This wasn't back in the 80's either, it was 2016. Rising real estate prices, china buying up US pork and covid bullshit pretty much killed breakfast. Now a decent pork tenderloin egg biscuit, if I can find one at all, is like $6 just by itself. Sure I can make a mean ass biscuit myself at home but god damnit I want to go for a morning jog, stop in for a biscuit, grits and a coffee, sit down and listen to all the geriatrics talk about "you hear about that new internet coin they got up there now?!"
