Yeah that image I found it's clumps of something, could be mould or rust. Peeked into mine with a light and magnifying glass: it's tiny flecks plus a larger spot that turned out to be a fucking hole. Oh well.

I wouldn't risk bleach tbqh, but then again I have no idea what would happen. I've done the water + vinegar rinse with my old one, worked fine (and it's probably a bit more food-safe).
