I wouldn't toast it if you want the authentic experience. Just get some very fluffy, little sweet white bread and put peanut butter on one side and preferably grape jam on the other. It's what kids in US growing up would recognize. For a more "adult" version (if that exists) use a fancier jam and butter and lightly fry it
