Its fucking simple. Take a couple cups of dried pinto beans. Cover in water. Cook until tender. Salt. Allow to cool to room temp. Store in fridge. Next day add lard to a sauce pan (large enough to fit a potato masher). Heat the lars until just smoking. Spoon beans into lard carefully using a slotted spoon to remove most liquid. Cook until beans are warmed through. Mash with a pic related style smasher. Ones with smaller holes/slits tend to get clogged with beans. Constantly stir. Check consistency. If too runny allow to cook while constantly stirring. If too dry add some bean water.

First off: I think that might be a slotted spoon like thing for doing poached eggs.

Secondly: for mashin duty, ignore new age, get one that looks like this.
