Honest question

Why did boomers fall for these goofy ass products like that so much?

Eg. When we were teens I remembered my mother bought a set of forks like this which we thought looked but also felt so weird compared to the regular ones we used. When we asked what's the point of it she said they're good for "spaghetti". Wtf? Why do you need a specially weird ass 3 prong primitive looking for to eat spaghetti? Yet to this day she still pulls out that fork to eat spaghetti instead of just using the normal ones. She literally only uses that fork for spaghetti dishes. nothing else
