Papa Johns is the worst pizza chain though. Worse than Little Caesars, and that's saying a lot.

It was never good. I also remember almost the same, 15 years back, first time. RAW DOUGH. I don't just mean floppy as shit like it always is, I mean nearly all of the dough 2-3 inches in from the outer edge, all the way to the center was fucking RAW. Declined offers of their pizza for years after, until it was offered to me again and it was the thin crust so I had a little more faith in it. Tasted like god damned sugar doughnuts. Do they fucking rub sugar and honey on that dough, god damn. Disgusting. And as for everything else about the bread when they manage to not leave it 100% raw, it tastes awful anyway. I guess the candy coating shit is to try to make up for the bland mass of chewy, wet cardboard. Not Working. Not fucking working t all.

I'd also like to mention it has zero reheat value. Every other pizza from any chain I've ever reheated in a toaster oven was almost as good as day 1, if not even sometimes a little more to my liking since the underside gets a better crisp surface than what is initially served. Papa Johns is the only pizza I know that actually gets MORE soggy in a god damned toaster. It's quite impressive really, but for all the wrong reasons. It also gets more rubbery. As if it had been microwaved, not toasted.
