Do as I did with my MIL:
Buy a nice looking but cheap knife set as a gift and store your good knifes somewhere realy unhandy for her to reach, or in your room in a thoe fabric roles for knifes. You mother wont will be to lazy to use yours when she has her own nice looking but shitty knifes, which she can fuck up to her hearts content.
