Never been here before, but was curious what you all thought of Alton Brown. Not really into cooking shows per se but Good Eats was really interesting and I've tried a lot of his recipes. Is he a decent guy?

Don't bother arguing with people who think that cooking rice all by yourself is a major life accomplishment.

Rice cooker trolls are like homemade spaghetti sauce trolls. Just let them boast about their extremely basic accomplishment and try not to encourage their acting out. They may grow out of it eventually.

I'd say I blame this guy, but ultimately I have to tell myself it should be considered a good thing that people try to be less of a total waste of oxygen. Right?

I concur... It is a great entertaining way to learn some food basics. Also don't be afraid to do some research and look for books on the subject.

My friend Alton... and not just because hes been a buddy of mine for the past 15 years. The approach he took while on Good Eats made the science of cooking understandable for a whole generation of foodies. While I may not love all of his recipes (and he gives me grief over it) I have to hand it to his brined turkey recipe. It was the first thing I cooked for my present wife while we were dating. In short I think he makes cooking fun.
