Seriously. If you are poor enough to need to but food at the dollar tree, you might as well spend the money on cheaper food items from Walmart and Kroger, which at this point are 95% cost competitive on the same item, roughly speaking.

Food banks are good, especially since most are adopting no questions asked policies so even if you have a job you can swing in and pull-down 30+ USD in groceries. Might as well anyway. At least it will be decent food, most of the people who work at food banks are woke types who insist on organic locally sourced farm to table bullshit if they can manage it.
