Yeah it really was. Even a nice glass of French white wine was only about a fiver (700 yen), usually you get scalped for booze in Michelin star places. I mainly drank plum wine on ice though, seriously delicious.

I don’t like salmon roe but dried mullet roe was surprisingly delicious (it’s somewhere in this picture). I also quite like beluga caviar, got some as part of a tasting menu, but I wouldn’t specifically order it.

I posted this in another thread but I struggled to finish my meal at Wa Yamamura, lots of small Kaiseki dishes add up. At the end you get a choice of four rice courses and you can have more than one if you want to try others at no additional cost.
