I have the same problem as you I'm a pretty good cook and if I know what to cook then i'm fine, I make great soups, stews, sauces, pasta dishes, lasagna, stews, cakes, cookies- everything, and I make it well, but it took me years to learn all the recipes (I don't actually use written recipes though). I'm still learning new foods and meals all the time.

Just try reading cooking material like some of the stuff on this board, or eating out and ordering something different. Maybe even consider getting a part time job in a kitchen, I learned so many new combinations and new methods just as a dishwasher.

Also herbs aren't spices, they are far more subtle and should be used carefully.
