i need help with cookie recipe. is it sugar that makes the cookies chewy? i don't like food so sweet so i usually use 1/3-1/2 sugar in the cookie recipe and they kind of come out like cake or biscuits. should i reduce some of the butter too? here's the recipe i use:

2-1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup unsalted butter softened
2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp salt
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon molasses
12 oz dark chocolate chips

mix flour, salt, and baking soda. beat the butter and sugar together, then add the vanilla and molasses. add flour mixture, then stir in chocolate chips. use 1/4 cup disher and bake at 375F for 8-9 minutes. i took the egg out of the basic recipe because i like the texture more, so i think it might be too much butter.
