Damn if you bought them directly from my property I'd charge you 6 for a dozen. And my birds are raised on pasture too.

>>17834987
If I ever go to a farmers market in the suburbs I'd charge 12 dollars per dozen, if not more.

I raise ducks. Are those your pigs? Are they berkshires? Do you sell the meat of 2 of them and keep one to yourself? What about your beefs? Got any pics?

self certified eggs without any gay labels are great.

Raising them yourself is king

I slaughtered and ate the excess drakes so they wouldn't rape my females to death. I have 3 gigachad drakes that get 4 females each, they still will occasionally squabble a bit chasing each other around, but overall they are very peaceful.

I plan to have cattle or maybe some goats in the near future for dairy and meat. I want goats due to them being smaller and their ability to eat brush but we'll see. This year I'm gonna get more ducks, geese, and chickens.
If you're a girl maybe you can live with me and help me with some gardening and construction projects and keep me off this god awful website.

Since this is my first time baking a cake I'm not sure about the direct difference. Duck eggs have a bit more fat and a different proteins structure, many sites say duck eggs are superior in baking because they cause a bit more rising and the pastries will stay fresh longer. I was pleasantly surprised with how this cake turned out. I normally hate cake (except cheesecake) but my boyfriend wanted me to bake one so I decided why not. I am considering exploring more with cake/cupcakes/other pastires making as I would like to sell baked goods at farmers markets.

I use duck eggs because that's all I have. When you have ducks, you get free duck eggs. When you get free duck eggs, you don't really want to spend money on eggs. haha

>The problem is that vegans are usually cultist like fanatics that exhibit a low degree of intelligence and rational thought to be able to understand this conversation, much less actually act up on it

Pretty much this. My sibling is a vegan and when I told them I was practicing permacultrue and small scale regenerative ag that immediately told me I was going to fail and that what I was doing was disgusting (even though a large part of what I do is garden)

The animals I do keep live almost entirely outdoors aside from protection from predators at night in a coop that could comfortably keep 4 times the number of animals I currently have.

But because I collect their eggs and killed off the excess males (that will rape females to death) I am just as bad as a factory farm.
Veganism is a joke.

:( my ducks are raised on rotating pasture, not free range.
My neighbor has free range chickens, but they occasionally get picked off by predators, the fence is more to protect the ducks than to confine them. This has been further confirmed when I have had ducks fly out of the pasture. But they seem to know what it's about because when they fly out they cry to be let back in.

I agree, confinement raised chickens, whether its cage or barn raised, have bland, tasteless eggs.

>just buy store bought eggs that have the bullshit organic certification.

No.
I have 12 laying ducks and my neighbor has free range chickens, she sells me a dozen for 2 bucks and her eggs taste better than the 7 dollar pasture raised vital farms eggs I used to be cucked into buying at the supermarket.
I don't even get those anymore because A: It's winter, she's a small operation, her hens production drops in winter. Understandable.

B: I HAVE DUCKS. They give me eggs, every day, for free. I got 4 eggs today, I will probably get 4 tomorrow (production is low due to winter and my ducks are still young, when the weather warms up I am expecting to get between 6-12 eggs a day). I have 6 dozen eggs in my fridge, and that's even with giving family a half dozen here and there as gifts.

Also organic doesn't make a difference in egg quality. They are still confinement birds who don't get enough vitamin D or forage. The only difference is they have organic feed and aren't on antibiotics. Neither of these things make any difference in the animals welfare or the taste of their eggs.
Why settle for less when I have the best?

If being independent and getting to hang out with cute birds all day instead of sucking supermarket dick for "just egg" then I guess I cope :3

Nah they probably aren't
I only slaughter excess males. Most of those are my egg demons. They are going to hatch the next generation, then I will get some new males to keep them from inbreeding. But most of these guys are too old at this point to be next Christmas dinner. A nice stew though.

Lets just leave it at this: I started with 40.
And next Christmas I'm hoping for goose :3
