I tell my 4 yo daughter to try and "eat a rainbow" meaning she needs to eat foods of different colors, which is a roundabout way for her to eat a variety of foods instead of just chicken or rice. Gets her to incorporate fruits and veggies a little bit. Backfires when she sees fruit flavor candies or lucky charms.

One time when I was little I was at a fancy restaurant with my family and ordered french toast and they served it with a big ball of butter/margarine on top and I thought it was a donut hole so I put the whole thing in my mouth but felt disgusted and tricked so I started silently crying but I didn't spit it out because my dad told me beforehand to be on my best behavior.
