>make the dish, mom basically carried me to finish line, I just help her cut some stuff and mix some things, she deals with the actual cooking stuff
>entire family thinks it tastes really good
>next day, I find some other recipe here and ask mom if she wants to try it next weekend
>can tell mom is really happy that she and I are actually doing something together
>fast forward a couple of months and we make something together every weekend for the entire family.
>now I actually enjoy cooking together with mom and seeing everybody enjoy our recipes. we've also started doing two-course meals where we cook an entree and a dessert with some more complicated recipes (for us).
>sometimes we fail, but we always just laugh it off and try to do better next time.
