I started eating these. For anyone interested, most fake meat is pea protein, soy protein or wheat gluten. There is also quorn which is a fungus but I haven't investigate that as much. Pea protein is low in methionine though not that low, it's PDCAAS is still 0.72 compared with 0.92 for beef and >1.0 for egg white and whey, though the score is capped at 1.0). You can make up for the methionine with brown rice protein though this is a bad tasting protein and seems to be high in oxalates. Soy is more complete but there are concerns about phytoestrogens.

Given the above, pea protein seams like a good option. Beyond Burger uses pea protein. There are pea protein based burgers with better macros (more protein) but beyond burger is much better tasting.

For myself, I'm not trying to be vegan, just minimizing animal products as much as I can, trying to balance health and fitness with ethics. So I'm eating a lot of Beyond Burger but also eating small amounts of meat, milk, eggs and fish.
