Can we have a spice thread?

I know the bare minimum for cooking. The only spices I ever add to my meals are salt and pepper, but it's starting to get old.

Recently I bought cayenne pepper powder for sweet potato french fries but I'm not too sure if they'll be good together. Recommendations?

Sup /ck/

I recently developed an obsession with spices and seasoning.

So. Share your favorite spice mixes, and what you use them on!

>live in america
>go into a grocery store
>doesn't matter if it's a supermarket or a locally owned store
>all the spices are in tiny jars
>prices are outrageous

If you go to an ethnic food store, you'll find the spices in bags by the pound. That's an improvement, I guess.

But if you actually buy those little jars and tins, then you are getting fucking reamed. We're talking goatse-level sodomy. You could fit a road cone and a package of hot dogs up your ass.

I saw a tiny jar of cumin for more than six dollars at Kroger. Two dollars would buy me a pound at the Indian grocery store I go to. Super markets that do this are making a killing and it will probably never change.

Tell me what city you live in and what the circumstances are for your spice shopping.

Pic related. What this country should do once it gets some respect for itself. Living in a country that's young sucks. The most complex food that I think most Americans make is chili.
