There are two issues with those $20 pieces of shit. They don't get quite hot enough(especially for your $16/12oz light roast ethiopian) and they have a shitty nozzle that brews your bed unevenly. Most just piss water straight down into the bed leaving a big crater and most of your coffee isn't hydrated or extracted evenly. You can solve the first issue by preboiling your water and then putting it into the mr coffee. You can solve the second issue by babysitting the bed and stirring with a little spoon or pulling out the carafe early to let your coffee bloom early in the brew. You don't want to do either of those things if one of your requirements is

If you were willing to do all that, just get a fucking v60. So you'll pay for the convenience. I'd imagine Ratio is paying more for this showerhead than Newell Brands pays for your entire brewer. Ratio also has handblown glass lines and shit driving the price up a bit. Its a bit closer to a $800 batch brewer from Bunn than a $20 Mr. Coffee.
