I just wanna take this time to remind everyone on /ck/ that I actually knew about the fried chicken wars before everyone else did. I used to like Popeye's old chicken sandwich, the "chicken po' boy". Any of you remember this thing? It was on Popeye's menus for decades.

It was a couple of chicken strips, some lettuce, some regular mayo, and a few pickles, all in a baguette. They weren't that great, but they were cheap. The combo with fries and a biscuit cost $4.99, which was a pretty good deal at the time for me.

Anyways one fateful day I drove into my usual Popeyes to order my chicken po'boy when I noticed it was crossed off with a sharpie on the drive thru menu. When I asked why it was crossed out, the wagie working drive thru said "it becuz we ain't got it no mo. Dey be sayin we be gettin a new fried chicken sandwich soon, ya hurd". And low and behold, a few years later after that, they got the new chicken sandwiches.

I just wanted to get that off my chest. Thank you for reading my life's story.
