It's pretty obvious why.

As a head chef, you wake up at 5 am and get to the restaurant at 5:30 maybe 6. You start prepping for 3 hours until doors open.

You're crammed into a hot ass kitchen with like 4 or 5 other people. Keep in mind that most of them are alcoholics or drug addicts too, and you gotta keep them in line.

You make the same shit everyday. The optimism from your youth is completely shattered. Everyday there's a table that orders your bear steak with a perfect puree well done for their infants, and send it back and complain because it tastes like shit.

You work until 10 pm with only 15 minutes for lunch in the middle.

You do this for 7 days a week, for 5 years in a row. You get paid dog shit. Some nights the waitress who gets every fucking order wrong, does t know the menu, spends her entire time texting, and is generally incompetent at her job gets tips and makes more than you.

Tell me right now there are women lining up for this job.
