So, unlike in the U.S. where tipping is an entitlement, I found out that in Asia tipping actually works.

>go to restaurant near work on Monday
>waiter is a nice kid who did a great job
>figure what the hell, I'll leave him a buck as tip
>go back today
>get three very attentive waitstaffs
>original kid plus two chicks
>food is done perfectly
>he apparently noticed that I scooped out the totally raw eggwhite and only ate the semi-cooked
>and he remembered
>they repeatedly come back to refill my tea
>all smiles

If anyone remembers, about a month ago I was bitching about how tipping doesn't really exist here, and how it meant I couldn't punish some utterly shitty service at another place. Nice to know that positive rewards mean really good service, at least.
