How do you all get hungry enough to eat three times a day, much less have snacks? How in the hell do people get "hangry?"

I maybe get it if you're working a very physical job/working out pretty hard and your body just NEEDS the energy, but for most people, I don't understand. Is it an addiction to the taste of food? Are your meals really small?

I eat once, maybe twice a day. The only times I snack are on road trips because it's part of the fun with people, or if someone tells me I really need to taste something. I don't get it.

I'd use shallots as much as onions if they were the same price. I like using a little onion or shallot in most things that I cook for two, and usually 1 shallot is the perfect amount, while a whole onion might be too much and I have to store half an onion in the fridge.

I'd also buy a lot more berries, cured salami/charcuterie, fine cheeses, red wine, duck, nuts, Sherry and Balsamic vinegars, jerky, nice cuts of beef (ribeye, tenderloin, strip, skirt, etc.)

I live in NYC, so I have access to almost anything in the world, but it all comes at a price that I may not be willing to spend. Fuck Whole Foods for gouging New Yorkers. It sure as fuck wasn't nearly as expensive in DC and Baltimore when I lived there, and those aren't cheap towns either.

Due to multiple conflicts with my roommates, I stopped cooking for myself... two years ago. Mainly over clean dishes, broken cookware that wasn't being replaced, etc.

I'd like to start being more responsible and eating at home more often. What are good ideas for single-person, little cleanup meals? My roommates and I just can't functionally share, and I'd prefer little to no leftovers, and as little usage of cookware as possible.

I've been eating out, ordering in, or eating frozen and preprepared meals from the store for the past two years, with maybe three exceptions. Help.

What're /ck/'s daily eating habits like?

For me:

Weekdays:
>No breakfast, wake up about 30 minutes before leaving for work
>Two cups of coffee at the office
>No lunch unless work demands it
>Afternoon tea of some kind
>Post-work snack, normally a little cheese, meat, or happy hour appetizer with a few beers and friends
>Dinner around 9-10, hearty meal
>Sleep around 12-1

Saturdays:
>Sleep in
>Brunch or a late lunch
>Don't eat until like 11 since we've been out all day

Sundays:
>Breakfast before football
>Drink all day
>Nap between the afternoon and evening game
>Hearty dinner to soak up the booze around 7
>Restful sleeps
