The Cuban sandwich, but nobody actually eats them. Otherwise, fried gator tail? Possibly the mahi sandiwch?

We tend to popularize things but not invent them. We made Hooters but didn't invent buffalo wings. We created the greatest Supermarket chain with the great sub sandwich, but didn't invent either. Sonny's is great BBQ but isn't "Florida" BBQ.

It's mostly owing to the fact that South Florida is very different from peninsular and panhandle Florida. It's an entirely different climate zone, in fact so that pretty much splits the vibes. Plus, you don't have air conditioning and the mass build-out until after WWII. The Cuban sandwich is great, but it's mostly a south Florida thing. We have great food, but it's mostly from other places.

We're like the west coast but for people who are too lazy to go west of the Mississippi River. We even have our own Tex-Mex chain - Tijiuana Flats. The new growing cuisine in Florida is a lot of "fusion food" at this point... and chicken. For some reason, chicken.
