I lived in the US for 4 years for my last job. 99% of americans are afraid to touch raw meat despite reliably going off on a rant about "preachy vegans" at the mere suggestion of eating at a vegetarian restaurant for lunch

The only meat they'll handle without squeamishness is beef jerky out of a pouch, and pre-sliced cold lunch meats from a plastic container
