Why not squid jerky? Tastes more like a gril's vag, if you get my drift.

Probably not. I didn't make this thread but I made one a while back where I came into a buttload of squid through no fault of my own. Shit happens, you need help dealing with it sometimes.

You don't need that to make squid jerky. I made a bunch last fall when I came into a case of fresh squid. I separated the tentacles from body, dipped in a seawater level brine and hung in my smoker. I applied a light smoke for @ 1 hour and then let it dry. Great beer snack or for hiking. Made yourself it's very cheap (that fresh squid was $2.00/lb) because dried whole squid is fucking expensive.

>making things like soy sauce, smoked bonito, miso paste, etc take actual talent
Dude, I've made Maangchi's soy sauce and miso from scratch as well as smoked my own squid, and I don't consider myself as having talent. Just an extremely isolated flyover who likes creating as much of his food as possible.

I made a batch large batch because I came into a large amount of squid. Just clean the squid removing the guts (I separated the legs from the body but you don't have to), brine for an hour in 1 cup sea salt/gallon of water and hang to dry until they bend without breaking. I hung mine in my smoker and applied a light smoke for an hour then set the temp for @130F. Came out really good.

Get better and dry meats if you want to survive this debacle.

Idk if it counts as fish but I recently came into a case of squid so we brined, smoked and dried some of them. Similar to the korean dried squid anju snack.

I recently came into 37lbs of whole squid and I love dried squid as a snack dipped in goljujang (hot korean bean paste) but it's expensive so I decided to try my hand at making it.

I removed the guts, soaked the bodies in salt water for 15 minutes and let the water drain off then separated the legs and hung them in my smoker. I applied smoke for 1 hour and now I'm letting them dry @ 130F.

Thoughts?
