My friend just back from visiting merry olde England and we were discussing weird things and he said the one thing that freaked him out the most was one afternoon he was starving - and cold, cause it's always raining - and he went into a restaurant and ordered "biscuits and gravy" (seems he was feeling a bit homesick for his Southern (Illinois) hometown.

He said the waitress said, "coming right up, mate" and she brought him this.

Other than this freaky thing, he said England was okay though it rains a lot.

What is the deal with trying to get a plate of biscuits and gravy in the U of K?
