ambrosia salad

dump into bowl drained cans/fresh sliced: pinapple, orange and cherries and whatever else strikes your fancy
add in mini marshmellows and pecans to taste
mix with half sour cream and half cool whip
top with shredded coconut

serve cold, typically as a side to the normal backyard grill fare
my mother would make a version of this substituting the sour cream for pistachio jello that was suprisingly good
honestly it just ends up being a weird mass of slightly sweetened fruit, but there's some odd combination of flavors that makes it very good

any time it's come up amongst euros it seems to trigger some retard response because it isn't a bowl of lettuce
but it's not like you idiots haven't heard of chicken or tuna salad
