What's your ideal or usual way to prepare a burger?

What condiments do you prefer on your burger? For a long time I thought "ketchup and mustard" was the best, sort of the default by the McDonald standard, why fix what aint broken. But then at some point I realized I like BBQ sauce with burgers more than ketchup, and that while it doesn't really go with mustard, the creaminess of mayo is perfect for it. But then at some point I realized I missed mustard, and of course, mayo and mustard I feel is the patrician choice now, after all it is the basis of the Big Mac sauce, and who doesn't love that.

I dunno man, that's where I sit right now, but what your thoughts, what to you is the definitive choice of condiment to top your burgers?

The burger is simple really, ground beef on a bun....nothing much. But it is the American food, think of it being so humble, down to earth, and yet somehow trendy. The burger is a great expression of who you are, and when you get down to it, a lack of pretension, in fact it is even typical procedure in America to ask how you want your burger, from the level of cooked right down to the toppings, there is no wrong way to eat your burger, you can have it with pickles or ketchup or onions and mayo, whatever your heart desires, no two tortilla rule or non authentic this or non authentic that, it is a simple beautiful classic and you can have it your way. Everybody loves burgers, this American classic will never go out of style and has inspired so many new classics like the cheeseburger, bacon burger, chicken burger, slider burger, and veggie burger, and you know what? I like mine seasoned with salt and pepper, charred on the outer, dressed with my own mixture of mustard, mayo, and relish and with a liberally toasted bun. So, what about you?
