"Results: An increased risk of all cause mortality (hazard ratio for highest versus lowest fifth 1.26, 95% confidence interval 1.23 to 1.29) and death due to nine different causes associated with red meat intake was observed. Both processed and unprocessed red meat intakes were associated with all cause and cause specific mortality."

Wasn't talking about cancer, was talking about the aforementioned diseases (atherosclerosis, diabetes, and heart disease.) The above study shows a direct link between both unprocessed and processed red meat and disease.

Chicken is one of the better option if you must eat meat. It still raises your cholesterol (yes this is negative) and is still cruel, but it is more sustainable than beef. That said, chicken is still extremely damaging to the environment.
