when explorers fist came in contact with remote tribes they introduced spoons and the tribal people held the spoon upside down just like the Brits hold forks

In hindsight this makes a lot of sense

Yes. The crust helps to preserve the meat when submerged in swampwater.

Beanz on toast is perfectly adapted to the British environment: the bread is like little raft, keeping the beans afloat in swamp-water.

They can't help it, it's in their DNA.

Usually the old country pubs have this homely, very quaint atmosphere. Very old buildings, usually you have to duck your head to get in. It's dark, smokey and warm with a fireplace and always has a welcoming smell of proper homemade food, it's not a place to get absolutely fucked up in but rather to enjoy a few pints with your mates, people are usually open to just shoot the shit with and all in all it's /comfy/ as fuck.
You can't really compare them with say a weatherspoons or a regular bar. Usually they're the local place for people in the village and thus a community is centered around it. If you want some cheap booze then there are plenty of other larger places or fuck even a simple social club where beer is sold for fucking pennies.

Looks great! I prefer more green vegetables when I make something similar to this, like spinach.
Two actual cooking threads on /ck/. Today must be my birthday!
