Do you really need dairy?

I understand:
Fruits - get some vitamins that other food types don't have; like vitamin C, it's like a fancy "Grains"
Grains - main source of energy
Protein - raw material to repair the body, replace old cells
vegetable - I'm assuming this means the green leaves kind, this gives you fiber, a type of food that just turns into poop because you don't really need it, it just makes you feel full, it's basically fake food, because you really don't need to eat that much

Dairy - ???
