Coke Classic is the closest we have to original recipe Coca-Cola. New Coke (from 80s) was based on the Diet Coke formula. Diet Coke is a completely different formula, even if you replace aspartame with sugar (yielding New Coke, which is availbale from time to time and permanently in American Samoa). New coke was cancelled for economic reasons, as the company figured that people who like the Diet Coke/New Coke flavor would just drink Diet Coke. Coke Zero, however, is based on the "original" Coke formula, with tweaks to make it more Coke-y. It is a superior cola for that very reason.
