Same reason why a MASSIVE number of products exist: people are stupid, and assume that they can't possibly do the job without buying a specialized tool for it.

Kitchen shit is especially bad for this:

For when you're too stupid to use a knife.

For when you can't just crack an egg on the edge of your bowl

A device that performs only one specific function.

A knife is not a unitasker because it can cut many different things: you can fillet a fish with it, dice an onion, carve a roast, break down a chicken, mince herbs, etc. It has countless functions, not just one.

Likewise an oven is not a unitasker because you can use it to cook many different things: braise, roast, bake cookies, a pie, pizza, etc.

Unitaskers do only one specific thing, not a wide variety of things. Pic related, for example, only cracks eggs. That's it. (unless you want to come up with some kind of sperg use like a paperweight)
