Mate, I am replying to a claim that because I have on-and-off alcoholism, it must be some self-hate. I don't. Three sentences on the thought isn't meant to be that insightful, it is just a short refutation.

With that being said, of course an alcoholic is the last person most people will to listen to regarding alcoholism, but it doesn't have much to do with them being wrong or right. It is because alcoholics at best cripple their potential to society and at worse bring down others with them, so they aren't worth listening to on principle until they clean up their act. So yeah I'm not going to bother and flesh out something actually insightful when the little I just wrote is enough to be considered full of myself.

I earnestly cannot understand why people have such a reaction to this ad.
It's not "so-bad-it's-good." Not "so-bad-it's-terrible." Not creepy. No double-entendres. It's just bad. If you showed this to me next to other ads, it just wouldn't stand out.
Either advertising these days is so good that apparently this is enough to insult people on a cerebral level, or it is an extremely slow media week outside of politics and people are scraping the bottom of the barrel.
