There was this “Hawaiian” burgers joint in Tanegashima Japan,a rural island, back when I taught English there. One summer a group of about a dozen nasa scientists spent the summer there working at the jap rocket launch pad, and I got to go with them to the burger joint when the danish bar owner I knew took the group out to eat. They were really excited about these overhyped burgers. Imagine a dozen middle aged American men, some of them quite corpulent, getting seriously pissy cus they had been starving eating rice and skipping all the other jap food, to be fed a tiny ass dainty burger with pineapple or something on it, which they finished in two bites, and refusing to order a second one cus they were all also married cheapskates. Fun times. I still got the nasa shirt they gave me for being a friendly American in a far away land.

Or two bacon egg and cheese biscuits, a sausage egg McMuffin, a bacon egg McGriddle, fries or hash browns, two apple pies or exchange one for a strawberry cream pie, and a Diet Coke.

That was my Sunday special, which would be preceded by the smoking of weed and the sharing of bacon egg and cheese biscuit with my mice.
