>just started as a waiter 1 month ago at shitty soulless generic US chain resturant #1886
>managers tell me not to bring out water or bread until after customers order food and drink
>tell me to upsell items as much as possible
>co workers have great advice to get good tips
>"you just gotta talk to them man, start a conversation."
>after following them I realize this means putting in a fake smile and bullshitting for 15 minutes about things you have no idea about.
>servers frequently curse out customers who they are forced to entertain so they can make enough to survive.
>meanwhile I'm some nuevo riche kid whose almost never been to this kind of resturant. Only working for some extra pocket cash.
>waiters I interact with are quiet and knowledgeable and do their job first before anything else

Fuck you. Now that I know what its like to be a server I'm tipping less than before. You're all just a bunch of unprincipled scumbags. As good as a dog disposer.
