Oh yes I have. Every year, in fact.

Pretty based. It's nice to live near fruit farms. This is the blueberry farm I pick in every summer. Too hot down here for apples though.

I pick my own at this blueberry farm every year and sample the bush prior to picking because some will be sweeter than others. However, the commercial pickers just go through and pick all the underripe berries since the ripe ones will spoil or be damaged in shipping before they hit the shelves. So even in season, the berries you get from supermarkets will have ripened on the shelf, not the vine which means less sweetness.

Pick your own. Every bush will taste different and you can sample to see if you like that bush. Cheaper too.
>inb4 I sampled ur mum's bush last night and it was cheap, lol

I pick my own at a blueberry farm and the owner has her pickers pick unripe berries for shipment to the stores that buy from her because if they were fully ripe they'd never survive shipment. Obviously even store bought in season will be hit and miss.

I can't when they're picked fresh. Supermarket tastes like mushy cardboard, however.

Ripeness with grocery berries is really the problem. The blueberry farmer where I pick my berries has her workers pick less than ripe berries for her commercial shipments because ripe ones would be damaged. Also, last year, at least in my area of the south, the blueberries all were larger than normal and the ones I picked myself were bursting with flavor, literal sugar bombs. Also, I highly doubt blueberries have been GMO'd as there are no insect pests that bother them, herbicides are entirely unnecessary and it's too small scale to make it worthwhile compared to other fruits.

tl;dr you've never really experienced blueberries until you eat fresh picked fully ripe.

Did you use fresh picked or grocery blueberries? Before I picked my own at a u-pick blueberry farm, I thought blueberries had no flavor. I was entirely wrong.

Well, I agree with your idea about most amerilard fruit and veg, but where I pick my blueberries they use no pesticides or herbicides just a 14-28-14 fertilizer and they aren't GMO just selective breeding.

Blueberries, when handpicked from a local blueberry farm, should be top rung. Those little bastards are fucking god tier. Even in the deep south where most fruits are unmercifully atracked by insects, the only predators on those jewels are birds and tortoises.

We picked 22 gallons from a pick-your-own farm this year and I never saw a single blueberry that looked like that.

We pick our own blueberries at this 20 acre farm (pic related). The owner hires pickers and ships to small independent groceries. She won't let her pickers start until after they've dried from the overnight dew or any recent rains because she said they'll mold very fast if picked when wet. I doubt large commercial operations are that picky (npi).
