In my opinion, from top to bottom:

>Toasted bun
>sauce/condiment
>Shredded Lettuce
>Pickles or Vinegar-y Slaw (omit lettuce if using)
>Onion
>Tomato (only if in season)
>Slice of Cheese
>Patty
>Thin Layer of Mayonnaise or Equivalent Sauce (most 'special' sauces)
>Toasted Bun

The idea is that the thin layer of mayo/sauce on the bottom acts as a barrier to give the bottom bun more life, and it also creates a kind of sauce of its own from the burger drippings. I also find that sometimes a good light slaw with a vinegar-based dressing is just as good as a dill pickle and also eliminates the need for lettuce. Also tomatoes are awesome on burgers when in season, but if they aren't then they aren't worth it.

At the end of the day though, like any good red-blooded American, I'll demolish even a mediocre burger. I actually much prefer burgers to even pizza.

Ok, well if you're in the Bronx and want some Mexican then La Morada is pretty great. If you want to go to Shake Shack but don't wanna stand in a hugeass line, then Harlem Shake is a good substitute and shouldn't be too out of your way from the Bronx going into the city.

Woorijip is a cheap place to eat in Koreatown near Herald Square. Osteria Morini is excellent mid-high end Italian food close to SoHo Broadway. Ferrara has great cannolis, East Village in general has fun places to eat and drink. Also can't go wrong with the Meatball Shop, there's a handfull of them around the city, but the one I usually go to is the one in the Upper West Side because I live uptown.

If you like sweets then get a cronut. Yeah, I know that they have a meme history, but I feel like they're legit. There's all kinds of places that do them these days, but the one I've been to the most is the Donut Pub on 14th and 7th Ave. Open 24 hours.

Hell yeah, what started as a thinly-veiled OBSESSED thread is starting to get good. I'll contribute.

I don't want to sound like an elitist fuck, but honestly if you are getting Shake Shack anywhere outside of NYC, then you're in for a different (inferior) experience, Same way I feel about the "UNO Chicago Grill" chain locations and the actual Pizzeria UNO and Pizzeria DUE in the Near North in Chicago.

I live in Manhattan, and while Shake Shack is good, I live less than 10 blocks away from Harlem Shake, which is pretty much the same burger but with no lines or dippy tourists ever. If you're ever unfortunate enough to wind up on 125th street, then give it a whirl

Just dropped in to see what some fellow New Yorkers recommended for food and I stumbled into a fucked up /pol/ thread with people who don't even live here constantly shitting all over the topic with unrelated Trump/Stormfront garbage. I'm sorry, OP. Mods, just nuke this fucking thread.

I'm a white guy who's lived in East Harlem and currently living in Harlem. If you want a good burger uptown go to Harlem Shake. Kinda pricey for a burger, but it's pretty much the same price as Shake Shack and you don't have to wait in those fucking stupid lines, and the general vibe is chill and generally uncrowded.
Best part of being uptown is that you get that Manhattan vibe and energy but no fuckin tourists except those doofuses in the ponchos on the tour bus that takes them to the Apollo Theater. Red Rooster is Marcus Samuelsson's place and it's a really nice place to eat up here, but it's got Midtown tier prices.

Also +1 to the guys earlier who mentioned Patsy's in East Harlem on 117th and 1st. Best slice in Uptown Manhattan for sure.

Also, all you New Yorkers calling everyone who doesn't live here Cletus. Cut that shit out. It only makes them angrier and more obnoxious.

Other than that here are some places that have inexpensive good food:
Veselka - Ukrainian/Polish open 24 hrs
Dos Toros Taqueria - Tacos (pretty good for NYC)
Meatball Shop - inexpensive place for a date night
Woorijip - Korean buffet/take out (good place for a surprisingly cheap lunch if stuck near Herald Sq.)

Oh, and since you're on 4chan, Kinokuniya is where you get your weeb on. Next to Bryant Park in midtown.

Here's the thing. If we assumed that all the fries on the list were each done at their peak execution, you could argue that any of those fries could be on top. But the reality is that some fries usually come cooked pretty poorly while others are consistently pretty great, and if the chart specified this, it'd be easier to rank this shit.

Meh. Philly's local rail transit is ok at best, and the super-regional rail is basically NE regional Amtrak between NY and DC. The problem with SEPTA is that while it's ok with connecting the region to the city, it kind of sucks at centralizing the region and moving people within the downtown area in order to drive commercial development in key neighborhoods. Philly is still very car-centric, excepting a select few old cute neighborhoods with narrow streets like Rittenhouse.

Truthfully, I haven't studied much about Philly. I live in Manhattan, lived in Baltimore, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and have family in SF, DC, Boston, Atlanta, and Chicago. But, it seems that Philadelphia outside of the Old City and the central downtown neighborhoods experienced a mix of Baltimore/DC urban growth patterns combined strangely with a typical Pittsburgh/Chicago rust belt automobile/industrial post-war flavor.

Wew lad. What kind of food porn - related post is this? Here's my favorite local burger place.

Yeah man, but dat shitty 1 train. 3 train masterrace, you don't get that Bronx riffraff hogging all the seats.

Eataly is a meme. Totally unnecessary in a city like NYC where you can get pretty much everything there, including their "exclusive Italian grocery selection" somewhere else, for cheaper. I mean, even the places in Chelsea market are cheaper. So in other words, it's a perfect addition to the Flatiron district! :^)

Damn son, the only time I feel masochistic enough to sit on the train that long through Brooklyn is if I'm going to JFK or Coney Island. But I'll definitely keep your suggestion in mind. I also promise not to tell friends in Manhattan about it if I end up loving it. Don't want to contribute to shitting things up over there in non-silly Brooklyn.

Do you guys get really tired of the tower burger meme/trend that is prevalent in most restaurants and just crave an old-school thin double burger?

There's a place in my neighborhood called Harlem Shake and they do it the way I like it when I can't get my ass down to shake shack.

Although sometimes what I really crave is a goddamn frisco melt.
