7.5%, around £4.50, 2500ml = white cider = 188ml of pure alcohol
37.5%, around £10, 700ml = cheapest rum or vodka or gin = 263ml of pure alcohol

For the price of a bottle of spirits, you can get two bottles of white cider, which is 376ml of alcohol. About 40% more alcohol for your money.
I still prefer to buy the spirits because you can mix them or just down them for a quick buzz, and white cider is absolutely disgusting regardless of what you do to it.
But there's a reason tramps don't buy spirits.
