It's more efficient, brews quicker.

Using only 10 - 14g of fine grounds will still result in a damn good cup, diluted or not.

The grounds get stuck to the metal filters too.

If you're truly interested in coffee: have scale, buy locally roasted beans, got a grinder, willing to mess with coffee:water ratio, then go with french press.

Otherwise, Aeropress.

It's very forgiving with regards to fuckups.

Apples and oranges if you like the concentrate (from the Aeropress). It's just different shit.

When you give the concentrate the Americano treatment (add an equal amount of hot water), the french press wins when you DON'T use a metal filter. Otherwise, they're on par IMO.

Physically, the Aeropress has the advantage of being made of plastic. No need to be afraid of dropping it too hard in the sink.
